Born in England 1972 Paul studied fine art and illustration
for four years before moving to London to work as a freelance
illustrator. Working successfully as a commercial artist he
produced a diverse range of work for publishers, including
editorial illustration in newspapers and magazines, as well
as advertising campaigns and medical illustration.
A change of direction came when he took part in an expedition
to Africa. Travelling extensively around Namibia, Zimbabwe
and Botswana, he found the open landscapes and limitless skies
stretched his painting ability and prompted a re-evaluation
of his work. Returning to England his new landscapes were
well received in galleries on the south coast. He continued
to refine his technique and found himself concentrating more
on the use of pure colour in his work by using high quality
soft pastels.
The impressionistic style of Paul’s work, and the way in
which he uses colour has been greatly influenced by his travels.
Inspired by his first Africa trip he continues to travel extensively
to undertake landscape commissions and develop projects for
print-making. In recent years he has visited Italy, Australia,
Africa and Central America, where he spent four months working
as an Expedition Artist for a youth development charity.
Paul now works predominately for clients on specially commissioned
pieces and also continues to undertake illustration work for
commercial organisations. He works continuously on his own
portfolio of work to develop his range of limited edition
prints, and has sold these successfully world-wide. |
